R.L. Allan NKJV1
A closer look at one of R.L. Allan’s rarest (and floppiest!) Bibles.
The NKJV Classic Reference Edition (aka: NKJV1) from R.L. Allan has achieved rather legendary status in the world of premium Bibles. It’s known as an ultra-floppy Bible that was bound in highland goatskin with near perfection by Chant Bookbindery. But at the same time, I’ve heard plenty of people lament that this Bible has its flaws, most notably when it comes to the opacity of the paper and the consistently of the print.
In recent years, the NKJV1 has become a bit of a unicorn, with used editions only popping up occasionally, and fetching steep prices when they do (something that tends to happen with editions that Allan no longer publishes… like the NRSV1, the HCSB1, and the NLT R1).
I recently had the opportunity got my hands on one of these rare Bibles, and I decided to go for it. Even though it's out-of-print, I wanted to share it with all of you Bible lovers out there, so please enjoy the video and photos below, and let me know if you have any questions.
