CSB Single-Column Personal Size Bible
A straightforward single-column design for CSB fans.
If you’ve read my blog before, you know I’m a fan of single-column Bibles, and this personal size edition from Holman offers the CSB translation in a very simple and clean design that makes for a nice reading experience.
You can find a lot of reviews out there about the Cambridge Wide Margin (mostly the ESV edition), and pretty much every one of them raves about it. My review will be no exception. This Bible is simple and unassuming, but it is also extremely well constructed and beautifully appointed.
CSB Single-Column Personal Size – Overview
The text block of the CSB Single-Column Personal Size Bible is 5.25” wide and 8.5” tall, and it measures about 1.75” thick, including the cover. It’s a sturdy little Bible that has a nice genuine leather cover and a Smyth-sewn binding. As you can see from the photos, it has a very classic look.
Inside you’ll find a 10pt typeface in single-column format that is line-matched. The columns go a little bit farther into the gutter than I prefer, but that’s not a deal breaker for. Other than that, I find the overall page layout to be very comfortable to read. I could not find any details about the paper, but my guess is that it’s around a 30 GSM. There is a little bit of ghosting on the page (see photos), but not enough to cause any major distractions while reading. Translation notes are included at the bottom of each page, but this Bible does not include cross-references.
At the back of this Bible you’ll find a concordance, several pages of lined note paper, and a set of full-color maps.

Bottom Line
If you’re a fan of the CSB translations (or want to give it a try), this is a nice little Bible to consider. It’s not flashy, but I like that about it. It’s a simple and clean Bible that allows the text of Scripture to be the focal point, and it does so with a little bit of style.
