CSB Study Bible
A closer look at the flagship CSB Study Bible.
I think everyone should own a copy of a good Study Bible, and thankfully there are a lot of great options out there. I am particularly fond of Study Bibles that I would categorize as “fully loaded” editions that come with thousands of study notes filled with historical, literary, and contextual details about the text as well as a wide selection of charts, maps, graphs, articles, illustrations, timelines, etc. Two that come to mind as really great options are the ESV Study Bible and the NIV Study Bible, both of which I have reviewed in the past.
I’ve also heard a lot of great things about the CSB Study Bible, and Holman was kind enough to send me a copy of their premium “Handcrafted Collection” so I could familiarize myself with it and do a proper review.

CSB Study Bible – Overview
Holman’s marketing material for the CSB Study Bible says that it is “designed to help you know and be transformed by God’s Word, keeping the beauty and majesty of Scripture primary on every page,” and I think it does a good job of accomplishing this goal. It’s a well-designed Bible that provides a ton of great study material (see list below) in a way that flows quite nicely.
As you might expect, this is a large Bible with a 6.75” x 9.25” trim size, and it measures about 2.25” thick. The Handcrafted Collection I have here comes with premium features like an edge-lined goatskin cover, Smyth-sewn binding, double-sided ribbons, and art gilded page edges. Previous editions in hardcover and LeatherTouch are also available.
It’s everything you could want from a Study Bible and then some.
