ESV Heirloom Legacy Bible
A closer look at one of Crossway’s most unique Bibles.
I’m convinced that one of the primary reasons why the English Standard Version is such a popular Bible translation is that Crossway has done such an excellent job of offering a wide variety of unique Bibles. Not only do they offer a ton of classic designs, but they also like to get creative… and I think that’s where Crossway really shines as a Bible publisher.
One of their more interesting designs is called the ESV Single Column Legacy Bible. Inspired by the what many Renaissance thinkers considered to be the perfect page proportions, the Legacy features a single column text with generous margins and (most notably) section headings moved to the margins to reduce visual clutter. This makes for a very clean reading experience, and I’ve always found the Legacy to be a really great Bible when I want to sit down and read for longer periods of time.
