Schuyler NLT Quentel

One of the best yet from today’s premium Bible publishing leader.

The New Living Translation has become more and more popular in recent years, yet the availability of premium-quality editions of the NLT has not matched the translation’s overall popularity. For that reason, many people have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the all-new NLT Quentel from Schuyler Bibles, and I’m happy to report that it exceeds all expectations. It’s a wonderful Bible.

The NLT Quentel is the seventh translation Schuyler has published in the Quentel series (NASB, ESV, NKJV, NIV, CSB, RSV), a typesetting designed by 2K/Denmark that features a two-column layout with cross-references that span the entire bottom of the page and red accents. But the NLT edition has a couple of unique features that set it apart from the others, and I’m excited to show them to you.

Schuyler NLT Quentel – Overview

Much like last year’s RSV Quentel, Schuyler has chosen to go with a 10pt Milo typeface with the NLT edition as opposed to the 11pt typeface used in previous Quentels (Schuyler told me that they plan to use this 10pt Milo in any future typesettings of the Quentel into new translations, but there are no plans to reset previous translations that used the 11pt typeface). It also follows the RSV Quentel’s inclusions of drop caps and chapter headings, but the design of these features in the NLT Quentel is much more clean and modern, which fits the translation quite well. All of this comes on 28 GSM Indopaque Paper from France that feels fantastic to the touch and is quite opaque.

Like all Schuyler Bibles, the NLT Quentel was printed and bound by Royal Jongbloed in the Netherlands and is being offered in edge-lined goatskin or calfskin covers and Smyth-sewn text blocks. Full yapp and standard yapp options are also available, and I absolutely love the aesthetic look of Schuyler’s full yapp Bibles with both a tooled line and a perimeter stitch.

Put it all together, and the NLT Quentel is easily one of the best Bibles Schuyler has ever produced.
