He Reads Truth Bible

A closer look at a Bible designed to help men engage with the Word of God every day.

Earlier this week I reviewed the She Reads Truth Bible with my wife, Becca. It seemed only fitting that I follow up with a similar review of the He Reads Truth Bible, a similar Bible designed with (you guessed it) men in mind. I have several friends who use He Reads Truth reading plans and Bible study materials, and after diving into this Bible, I can see why so many guys love using their resources. This Bible is designed well and easy to use.

Keep scrolling to learn more about the features of the He Reads Truth Bible and to see links to where you can purchase a copy. And make sure you watch my short video walkthrough before you go.

He Reads Truth Bible – Overview

After the successful creation of She Reads Truth in 2012, the company launched He Reads Truth in 2015 to create a space for men to have their own community focused on studying the Word of God. In addition to their app, readings plans, and devotional “Legacy Books,” He Reads Truth developed a Bible in 2019 that pairs the CSB translation with a bevy of additional features.

I love good design, and the He Reads Truth Bible is very aesthetically pleasing. Whether you get a genuine leather edition, a synthetic “LeatherTouch” edition, or the cloth-over-board edition seen in my photos, each one has a classic feel with modern touches. Inside, the He Reads Truth Bible features a single-column layout for the biblical text with wide margins for taking notes, and just like the She Reads Truth Bible, this edition for guys is packed full of additional features: reading plans, book introductions, key verses, timelines, maps, charts, and illustrations.

As I show in the video review, the pages with full-color charts and illustrations do show through a bit on the opposite side of the page, and that can be a little distracting at times. That said, this Bible is already 2.5” thick, so I would rather deal with a little ghosting on the page than have more opaque paper that would create an even thicker overall Bible.

FEATURES
• 9pt type size
• 6.25” x 8.5” trim size
• 2.5” thick
• Sewn binding
• One-year Bible reading plan
• Reading plans for every book of the Bible
• Detailed book introductions
• 66 hand-lettered key verses
• Wide margins for journaling and note-taking
• Dozens of full-color timelines, maps, charts, and illustrations

Men in the Word

The bookshelves of my office are filled with Bible commentaries, dictionaries, and various study tools that I’ve acquired over the years as a pastor and seminary student, but I recognize that this is not the case for most guys. I would venture to guess that most men have more Lee Child or Tom Clancy novels at home than they do Bible study tools, and that’s one of the reasons why I like the He Reads Truth Bible, because it includes a little bit of everything that you need to dive into the Word in a meaningful way.

And even with all of these tools at my disposable, I’m glad to include the He Reads Truth Bible in my library. It’s well designed, handsome, and a great tool for me to use in my own study time.

Bottom Line:
The He Reads Truth Bible is a lot like a great Leatherman multi-tool or Swiss Army Knife. It’s created to give men everything they need to study the Bible every day, and it does so extremely well.
